Amelia Brown
Doctoral Practicum Clinician
My approach to therapy is grounded in psychodynamic, emotion‑focused, and multisystemic perspectives, with deep respect for your unique lived experience. Many of the ways we think, feel, and relate to others develop as protective mechanisms that once served an important purpose. Over time, however, these patterns may begin to feel misaligned with who you are or who you want to become. In our work together, we will explore both what is unfolding in your present life and the deeper patterns, relationships, and experiences that have shaped your story.
I believe that our struggles do not exist in isolation. Your relationships, community, identity, and broader life context all play a meaningful role in how you experience and navigate challenges. I strive to hold these systems in mind throughout our work, honoring the complexity of your experience. I also emphasize emotions as meaningful guides—rather than something to avoid or “fix,” emotions can offer insight into your needs, history, and ways of moving through the world. I will support you in developing greater awareness, curiosity, and compassion toward your emotional landscape.
I work with adolescents, adults, and couples. I have experience supporting those impacted by trauma, substance use, mood and personality disorders, relationship challenges, incarceration, attachment disruption, parenting and caregiving challenges, and co-occurring conditions. I am particularly drawn to work that explores relational patterns, attachment, and emotional experience, and I am passionate about working with individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, and overwhelming worry.
My intention is to offer a warm, collaborative space where you can explore past and present, deepen your self-understanding, and develop new ways of relating to yourself and others that feel aligned with your values and goals.
I have worked across a range of mental health settings, including psychological assessment, social-emotional learning with children, and caregiver support through parent education and coaching. I have also worked with justice-involved individuals and families navigating complex challenges. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for the many contexts that shape each person’s life and reinforced my respect for the courage it takes to engage in meaningful change.
