Convenient. Flexible. Supportive.

Telehealth services enable you to meet with your Slate therapist using video conferencing on a cell phone, tablet, or computer. These services can be utilized from the comfort of your home, office, or other private space. Slate offers the option of individual or couples therapy as well as sport consultation through our telehealth platform. All that is needed is a phone number and email to set up the process.

We have included answers to some of our most commonly received questions below and encourage you to call or email if you have further questions.

Common Questions

WHAT IS TELEHEALTH?

Telehealth is the provision of therapy services using telecommunication technology.  At Slate we use two platforms, Zoom and Doxy.me. These platforms enable us to provide appointments through video conferencing on a cell phone, tablet, or computer.  Appointments via telehealth allow all of our clients to have access to convenient, stable support from their providers regardless of ability to meet in-person.

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A SMARTPHONE, COMPUTER, OR TABLET?

If you do not have access to a tablet, smartphone, or computer, we can still meet via telephone. During the COVID-19 pandemic, insurance companies have lessened restrictions and allow telephone-only therapy if clients do not have access to video. It can also be helpful to call your insurance company with any questions regarding reimbursement for telephone therapy sessions.

HOW SECURE ARE THE TECHNOLOGY PLATFORMS UTILIZED BY THE CLINIC?

All of the technology we utilize is HIPAA compliant and encrypted to ensure data security.

HOW ARE TELEHEALTH APPOINTMENTS BILLED TO MY INSURANCE?

Telehealth sessions are billed to your insurance in the same way in-person sessions are billed. Telehealth sessions cost the same as an in-person session; therefore, you will have the same co-pay for an appointment.

CAN I DO MY APPOINTMENT FROM ANYWHERE?

Yes, our telehealth platform utilizes an easy-to-use mobile app that can be used anywhere on a smartphone or tablet. We recommend that you connect from somewhere private and distraction-free to receive the full benefit of remote therapy.

IS TELETHERAPY EFFECTIVE?

Studies have demonstrated that interactive telehealth therapy sessions are equal in their effectiveness to in-person psychotherapy, while also increasing access to care for clients (American Psychological Association, 2013). We have received positive feedback from many of our clients regarding the ease and accessibility of our Telehealth-care.
