Stephanie Brey, LPCC

My approach to therapy is connective and relational, rooted in empowerment and collaboration with the client. In our work together, clients see themselves more clearly through curiosity, compassion, and humor. Within the therapeutic space, I incorporate techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic therapy. I am also certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), which changes the way distressing memories are stored in the brain so they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional reactions.

My passion is providing therapy services to people who want to integrate their past experiences and future hopes into a new, empowered sense of self. This includes people experiencing the effects of trauma, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues, as well as those navigating life transitions such as parenthood, college, work changes, retirement, and relationship changes. I also have expertise in providing therapy to people in all stages of recovery from substance use, including those who are just beginning to explore the idea of changing their relationship to alcohol or drugs.

I believe that people need to understand and feel seen for who they are in this moment, in order to grow and change into who they want to be. In your work with me, we will identify what may be getting in the way of change in your life and get creative about how to overcome those barriers. We will dive into the stories you believe about yourself and get honest about how they influence your thoughts and behaviors. We will investigate how your actions are helping and hurting you, so you can be intentional about what you choose to do next. And through this exploration, we can create space for something new.
